"Iowa artist Pam Douglas (left), creator of the 'Folding Cranes, Enfolding Community' art installation that that honors the lives and memories of Iowans who’ve died from COVID-19, speaks while DMACC President Rob Denson looks on as another 1,200 cranes are added to the exhibit on Tues., Feb. 8., at the DMACC Student Center on the College’s Ankeny Campus. Since the exhibit was installed just seven weeks ago at DMACC on Dec. 13, 2021, another 1,200Iowans have passed away due to COVID. This brings the total number of COVID deaths in Iowa to8,657 (as of Feb. 4, 2022). Among the 1,200 new cranes, 14 represent deaths of those within the DMACC community."
